On Friday, July 17, the Emerging Leaders of Somerset County hosted a breakfast seminar entitled “Economic Development 201.” This seminar, presented by John Maddocks, Vice President of Economic Development for the Somerset County Business Partnership, was the most well-attended of the ELSC’s “Breakfast 201” series, with roughly thirty attendees representing a wide variety of area businesses, including members of both the public and private sectors.
The seminar began by Maddocks giving insight to the formation of the Business Partnership as the synthesis of four separate but related agencies in the late 1990s. Discussion primarily focused on the challenges facing economic development in general, and in uncertain economic times in particular.
